In this presentation, Claire will discuss some of the reasons school leaders find it difficult to think. She will then explore some ways we can support school leaders to think better, applying Daniel Willingham’s seminal work, ‘Why Don’t Students Like School?’ to school leadership. Claire will offer some practical ways forward for head teachers and senior leaders, particularly senior leaders new to their roles, based on the work of Willingham, and also of Weinstein & Sumeracki.
