About researchED

The goal of researchED is to bridge the gap between research and practice in education.

researchED is a grass-roots, teacher led organisation started in 2013 by Tom Bennett, and assisted by Helene Galdin-O’Shea.

The goal of researchED is to bridge the gap between research and practice in education. Researchers, teachers, and policy makers come together for a day of information-sharing and myth-busting.

We want to raise the research literacy of educators, in order for them to possess the critical skills necessary to challenge and understand the quality of research they encounter.

ResearchED events can now be found around the globe and normally take place on a Saturday at a school or college.

How does the day start?

The day starts out with registration, about 45 minutes before the event begins. Attendees and speakers pick up their name badges and a goodie bag.

This is a great time for networking or catching your favourite speaker before the busy day begins.

The event starts with a plenary opening, usually with researchED’s founder, Tom Bennett, and a representative from the hosting school.

How do the sessions work?

At a researchED event, there are usually 6-7 rounds of sessions. Each session is 40 minutes long. Attendees build their own day using the timetable and programme that is released a couple of weeks before the day of the event.

The sessions are FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE, so we advise to get to your session well in time or have a backup session in mind if one is filled up.

Sessions are attended by both teacher and speakers. Don’t be surprised if your favourite speaker comes and sits next to you during a session.

Do I need to bring lunch?

At most researchED events, lunch (standard and vegetarian) is included in the ticket price, unless otherwise stated.  However, if you have special dietary needs, we are unable to accommodate these at this time.

There is also a break in the afternoon to get a cup of coffee or tea to keep you going.

How do I get a ticket?

Tickets can be purchased online. Add one or more tickets to the cart, and fill in your information at checkout. Once your order is placed, you will receive your tickets right away as a PDF download, which can be found in the final checkout screen, as well as in your ‘order complete’ email. If you create an account, you can download your tickets anytime from My Account /Orders. Print out your ticket or show the ticket on your smartphone when you register at the event.
