Raising the bar: subject knowledge and social justice at the heart of initial teacher education
An exploration of the impact of recent policy and sector changes to the Initial Teacher Education landscape and their impact on beginner teachers entering the profession. The session will draw on the recent expert group recommendations and consider what the absolute priorities are for brand new teachers, as well as how best experienced teachers and school leaders can support them.
A former Senior Leader, Head of English and Advanced Skills Teacher, Rachael has led English, Literacy, Humanities, Special Educational Needs, English as an Additional Language and Communication, as well as overseeing BTEC delivery within a range of London settings. Rachael also established and ran the English stream of the national Schools Programme for the Prince’s Teaching Institute. She is passionate about outstanding teacher education and classroom practice, believing firmly that every child is entitled to the best possible educational experience and outcomes. Rachael has a varied and significant experience in system leadership particularly around Initial Teacher Education.
