Setting the Standard for Great Teaching: Ontario’s enhanced teacher education program
The Ontario College of Teachers is one of Canada’s largest self-regulatory bodies. Its privilege to self-govern is derived from a legislated mandate to certify qualified teaching professionals to work with Ontario students. The 240,000-member College has established Standards for the Teaching Profession to which every active member of the College aspires and which also serve as the foundation for the initial teacher education programs accredited by the College.
During this session, College CEO & Registrar, Dr. Michael Salvatori will provide an overview of the College’s mandate and focus on the process of accreditation of initial teacher education programs.
