Leading the Evidence-Based English Department In this session, Lyndsey will outline some of the approaches taken by the English Faculty at The Cherwell School, which have led to sustained high levels of achievement over recent years. She will explore ways that educational research has influenced the overall ethos of the faculty, the curriculum and the teaching. In particular, she will focus on the role of explicit knowledge and vocabulary teaching as a way to improve and enrich student understanding and enjoyment of literature.
Lyndsey is Faculty Leader for English at The Cherwell School, a large comprehensive school in Oxford. Starting at the school in 2005, she worked as a TA, cover supervisor and in the inclusion base before qualifying as an English teacher in 2010.
