In this session, I will explain what people do and don’t mean when they talk about a ‘knowledge rich curriculum’ and how it differs from other types. Where do skills, application and understanding fit in? Why do people think it’s so important and what’s the research behind it?
Clare Sealy is the headteacher of St Matthias Primary School in Tower Hamlets in the East End of London where she has been working since 1991. She is interested in the application of cognitive science in the primary and early years classroom; what it tells us about memory and how this could influence how we plan for long term learning through careful curriculum design.
