Chi Tschang, Achievement First Regional Superintendent, welcomes researchED participants and provides insights about how Achievement First uses research to drive practical improvement.
A year after graduating from Yale University in 1998, Chi began teaching middle school history at Boston’s Academy of the Pacific Rim. In 2004, Chi founded KIPP Academy Fresno in Fresno, California, and the school was named a California Distinguished School in 2008. In 2009, Chi moved to Achievement First, where he manages a region of eight college-preparatory middle schools. Between 2013 and 2017, the schools under Chi’s oversight improved 30% in math proficiency and 21% in ELA proficiency on the New York state exams. In addition, Chi currently manages Achievement First’s 5-12 math and 5-8 ELA programs and is a Platinum-distinguished member of the Relay-Leverage Leadership Institute.
