Retrieval practice and effective assessment in secondary science: a blended approach
Spaced rehearsal, interleaved practice, and low-stakes quizzing are highly effective strategies for promoting long-term retention of course content and skills. I use Moodle (a free and open-source learning management platform) to implement these strategies in a high school chemistry course. This has numerous practical benefits for students and teachers. My assessment item bank is available for free and I demonstrate its use in this presentation.
