Closing the Reading Gap (in the time of the Coronavirus)

Reading is the key to learning. Put simply, academic reading helps pupils access the school curriculum. As such, every teacher knowing about how children learn to read, before going on to ‘read to learn’, is crucial work. However, a stark truth is that many teachers feel underprepared to access the best evidence on reading, or to teach pupils with reading barriers. Alex unlocks what reading gap looks like in the classroom, whilst exploring how the reading gap will inevitably be widened by Coronavirus closures.
